Lead Datacenter Technician
Location: Lithia Springs, GA 30122
Position Type: Full-time salaried employee local to the work site
CBTS is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Datacenter Technician to support a rapidly expanding enterprise facility located east of Atlanta. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in data center operations, with exposure to Nvidia InfiniBand Network technologies. This role will be responsible for troubleshooting, managing hardware components, ensuring network performance, and overseeing asset management.
Key Responsibilities:
Troubleshooting & Component Management:
• Identify and troubleshoot components requiring attention.
• Manage and prioritize troubleshooting tasks identified by the delivery team.
• Create and track RMA tickets with OEM vendors.
• Ship and receive components efficiently.
• Monitor component performance against defined targets, including:
o Speed: Ensure CPU, GPU, RAM, and network performance meet OEM specifications; collaborate with OEMs to resolve issues.
o Thermals: Maintain CPU, GPU, RAM, and network within normal operating ranges; ensure data center ambient temperature/CDU operates within defined parameters; coordinate with co-location data center facilities teams for remediation.
o Power: Monitor power consumption across components and infrastructure; ensure compliance with defined parameters for PDUs, OCP power shelves, and data center power; communicate with co-location facilities teams to resolve discrepancies.
Network Infrastructure:
Ethernet Network:
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with transceivers, DACs, SMF/MMF cables, and switches.
• Reseat and reintegrate failed network components.
• Route additional cables as required for new capabilities.
InfiniBand Network:
• Diagnose and address issues with transceivers, DACs, SMF/MMF cables, and switches.
• Reseat and reintegrate malfunctioning components.
• Deploy additional cabling for enhanced networking capabilities.
Server Hardware Management:
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with CPU, GPU, RAM, network cards, motherboards, and chassis.
• Reseat and reintegrate failed server components as necessary.
Storage Systems Maintenance:
• Diagnose and resolve failures in SSDs (NVMe, SATA) and HDDs (SAS, iSCSI).
• Reseat and reintegrate failed storage components to maintain optimal performance.
Asset Management & Inventory Tracking:
• Maintain accurate tracking of equipment and inventory using the Enterprise DCIM Solution.
• Report Installs, Moves, Adds, and Changes (IMAC) to the asset management team.
Qualifications & Skills:
• 5 years of experience in data center operations or related fields.
• Hands-on experience with Nvidia InfiniBand Network technologies.
• Strong understanding of troubleshooting methodologies for networking, server, and storage components.
• Familiarity with enterprise-level DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) tools.
• Experience working with OEMs for RMA and performance remediation.
• Ability to collaborate with co-location facilities teams to resolve environmental and infrastructure-related issues.
• Strong organizational skills for asset tracking and inventory management.
• Ability to lift and move equipment as required for installation and troubleshooting.
• Effective communication skills to interact with internal teams, vendors, and data center facility partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Certifications in Nvidia InfiniBand, Cisco, or other networking technologies.
• Experience working in high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
• Knowledge of enterprise power and cooling strategies.
