What are the responsibilities and job description for the Linux Engineer position at CBTS?
CBTS is currently seeking a Linux Engineer for a position located in Cincinnati, OH.
Essential Job Functions
• Engineering and maintaining cellular network connectivity solutions for our field kiosks.
• Engineering secure cloud network infrastructure for the RDS ecosystem.
• Develop automation, procedures and documentation to enable operations teams to reduce MTTR for network connectivity incidents.
• Participation in an on-call and out-of-hours support rotation.
• Troubleshooting of complex network connectivity issues.
• Developing and maintaining business relationships with ISPs.
• Troubleshooting and network design guidance for cloud based services for RDS products.
• Maintaining a broad knowledge of hardware and software solutions, and making recommendations in improving administration, availability, scalability, and disaster recovery of networks and hosted services.
• Documenting network, systems design, configuration, and administration items for the purposes of educating team members as well as compliance requirements.
Education & Experience
• Minimum 8 yrs experience managing a high-availability Linux production environment
• Knowledge of and experience with Linux security best practices, including compliance regimes such as PCI or SOX
• Experience building 24x7 high availability systems (load balancing, failover, etc.)
• Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet)
• Highly proficient shell scripting capabilities in Bash, Perl, Python or Ruby
• Experience with software engineering practices relevant to Infrastructure As Code, e.g.
• Agile practices, source control, code review, and build automation
• Experience configuring and maintaining web servers (Apache, Nginx, etc), mail servers (Postfix, Sendmail), and RDBMS servers (MySQL, Postgres, etc)
• Strong networking knowledge
• Experience with performance and availability monitoring systems
• Amazon cloud experience a plus
• Experience with JVM-based languages such as Java or Scala a plus
