Job Description
This position plays a key role in planning, configuring, and implementing our IP networks, working closely with various departments within Core Network, OSP Planning - Engineering, VoIP Engineering, and other operations and support organizations. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and performing all network engineering functions required on all Layer 2 data services sold to Business Retail and Carrier Customers.
The individual will manage and configure all related IP configurations for customer dedicated internet orders, ensuring the quality and value of our data and Internet products meet operational and financial goals of Cincinnati Bell.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical deployment project management, including implementation plans, methods of procedures, resource identification, and execution of work
- Engineer and configure customer orders within established processes and timeframes (OLAs)
- Collaborate with Network Planning to manage growth and capacity plans by monitoring network performance and communicating specific capacity needs
- Lead the implementation of network designs that deliver performance, reliability, and scalability within Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
- Participate in on-call rotation for technical issue escalation support of production network environment
- Represent Network Engineering on cross-functional product/project teams, developing and launching data services
- Act as technical lead on complex network projects as needed
Requirements
- 6-7 years of hands-on engineering experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering and administering IP networks
- Cisco Certifications such as CCNP or CCIE highly recommended
- Extensive hands-on experience in router configuration and maintenance
- In-depth knowledge of dynamic routing protocols like EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP
- Experience with heterogeneous networking components, VLANs, ATM, Frame relay, and optical carriers
- Project Management experience and proficiency in network analysis and performance monitoring tools
- Familiarity with security-related information sources and firewall configuration
- Working experience with troubleshooting tools and Visio for detailed network diagram creation
Education
- Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent job-related experience
Desired Skills
- Expert knowledge of TCP/IP and enhancements like multi-cast, QOS techniques, bandwidth, and path reservation techniques
- Working knowledge of DS3, T1, OC3, ISDN, Frame Relay, SONET, ATM, and DSL
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Resourceful and seasoned network professional with manufacturing network experience, preferably in OT Networks
- Experience deploying and managing networks using DNAC/SDA, preferred
- Solid communication skills and ISE/Scripting experience, a plus
