CBTS is seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer for a position that can work remotely.
The position requires mid to high level experience in both IT Security and IT Networking operations. Responsible for network security, connectivity, management, and engineering of network security systems and hardware. Provides technical leadership on complex network security projects. Acts as technical project lead for networking security initiatives and as an incident response engineer. The Sr. Network Security Engineer will work closely with other security, network, and operational team members to design, plan, implement, maintain, and improve the security posture of the infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Network Design Strategy – Assumes accountability for overall network security infrastructure to ensure that network meets current and future business and security needs. Investigates new network security technology offerings, recommending solutions as they become viable. Engineer/Maintain a complex network security footprint to support firewalls, datacenter and campus network security, wireless network security, and cloud networks and security.
Network Security – Assists in determining best methods to ensure network security by investigating best practices, services, software and hardware that detect/report/prevent network intrusions and/or ensures network security. Adheres to policies to ensure that proper settings/configurations to networking equipment are in place. Establishes and maintains auditing strategy to ensure that policies are being followed.
Documentation – Assumes responsibility for developing and maintaining detailed documentation of network security infrastructure.
Integration - Works with IT Infrastructure and IT Security to facilitate work on areas of associated, overlapping, or converging technologies.
Independent Judgement - Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices and technology standards. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
Support - Analyze and troubleshoot network communications, reported problems, failures, and security related issues. Coordinate with Vendors to resolve issues as needed. Support Solarwinds network monitoring system with adds, moves, changes and overall network security system health. Analyze system logs and identify potential issues. Participate in on-call rotation
Experience:
- Six (6) years in 1000 node network environment working directly with Firewall, LAN, WAN and wireless networking equipment, vendors, and overall network security design
- Highly experienced working with Cisco, Palo, Azure, or comparable enterprise-class technologies
- Hands-on technical lead in installation, operations, maintenance and troubleshooting of the Network Security infrastructure to ensure 24x7 network operations and security.
- Assist in the design of network security solutions for complex network environments that meet business operation requirements
- Use network and security tools to enhance the network infrastructure security, reliability, performance, and monitoring
- Maintain up-to-date network documentation and follow formal change management processes
- Experience with enterprise class network management/monitoring systems such as Panorama, Cisco ISE, Cisco DNA, Solarwinds, Azure
- Utilize Cisco and Palo network equipment and commands to perform hardware configuration and implementation in a production environment
- Ability to work independently and part of a larger IT team with direct or indirect matrix relationships
- Ability to mentor more junior engineers
- Proficiency in threat detection response methodologies.
- Experience with vulnerability management processes.
