The Fabrication / Facility Technician position is responsible for producing, repairing, and maintaining parts, components, equipment, and facility infrastructure and performing routine maintenance and repair of the plant facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, welders, and grinders to produce parts, components, equipment, and facility infrastructure.
· Review and understand electronic or physical prints and specifications.
· Perform electrical repairs on all facility-related electrical systems.
· Inspect parts using a variety of inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, etc.
· Shape and form steel, stainless steel, aluminum, plastic, and other materials.
· Machine, thread, and tap stainless steel and other materials.
· Plan the cutting, machining, finishing, and assembling operations sequence.
· Ensure workpieces are properly lubricated and/or cooled.
· Adjust cutting speeds and feeds to compensate for harmonic vibrations.
· Check the accuracy of work against prints and specifications.
· Utilize the appropriate TIG or MIG welding equipment and methods based on requirements.
· Assist with installing machinery and production equipment.
· Perform routine preventative maintenance on all facility equipment as required.
· Complete work orders with minimal supervision and all required maintenance documentation.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum skills necessary to perform the job:
· Ability to comprehend mechanical drawings and use sketches, prints, and specifications to plan and carry out operations for fabrication.
· Ability to measure and verify precise dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances.
· Ability to convert between metric and standard units and between fractions and decimals.
· Ability to be detail-oriented and efficiently complete assigned tasks within a specified period.
· Self-motivated with the ability to solve problems and make decisions both independently and within a cross-functional team.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills.
· Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
· Possess a sense of urgency, accountability, and professionalism.
Education:
High school diploma or GED required. 1-2 years’ Machinist experience required; 1-2 years’ MIG and TIG welding experience required.
