The Director, Compliance Testing, will manage the Bank's compliance testing for assigned bank products and direct reports including products offered through Strategic Partner's ("SPs").

Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance Testing Program Development: Assist the VP, Compliance Testing to Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive compliance testing program that assesses adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards, through continuous control testing scenarios.
  • Compliance Testing Program Execution: Coordinate with assigned business units and fintech partners to schedule, conduct, and evaluate compliance tests, providing clear and actionable findings and recommendations.
  • Knowledge: Possess a strong knowledge of laws, regulations, and industry best practices applicable to the bank's lending products. Including but not limited to UDAAP, UDAP, ECOA, EFTA, FDCPA, GLBA, FCRA, TILA, MLA, and SCRA.
  • Development, Implementation, & Administration: Oversee all aspects of Compliance Testing pertaining to directly assigned testing and direct reports Compliance testing assignments.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop direct reports, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture. Also, assist with providing training for staff and business units on compliance-related topics and best practices.
  • Risk Assessment: Must have experience in the risk assessment process. This includes formal and informal risk assessments. Must be able to work with the VP, Compliance Testing to translate risk assessment results into actionable and relevant monitoring and testing activities.
  • Communication & Presentation: Communicate complex information to employees, management, strategic partners, and regulators. Present training materials, recommendations, and initiatives, as requested.
  • Reporting & Responding: Prepare and compile testing reports as scheduled and testing documentation upon request from the VP, Compliance Testing, or regulators.
  • Recommendations & Guidance: Advise and provide guidance to the management team, SPs, and other stakeholders.
  • Projects & Other Job Duties: Ad hoc projects and other job duties, as assigned.
  • Timeliness: Must be able to work under strict testing SLAs and be able to communicate requests for deadline extensions in a timely manner.
  • Decision Making: Must be able to confidently make recommendations in a way that is consistent, explainable, and actionable.

Specifications

  • Subject Matter Expert on lending rules and regulations, as applicable to bank products and products offered through Strategic Partners.
  • Experience with small-dollar, high-cost loans, deposits, and mortgage loans is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in designing, executing, and leading compliance testing, preferably in a complex, multi-faceted financial institution.
  • Three to five years of experience in managing daily tasks applicable to a second-line Compliance Testing program.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on coaching and developing talent.
  • High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness.
  • Experience with managing compliance risks associated with fintech partners and third-party relationships.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and make critical decisions regarding compliance with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to write and revise testing policies and procedures for new and emerging regulatory developments and concerns.
  • Ability to present complex information in an understandable and relatable manner when presenting to employees and Strategic Partners.
  • CRCM Certification preferred but not required.
