Job Summary
Reporting to the Childcare Program Director, the Childcare Center Assistant Director provides support in the leadership of Cayuga Community College’s (CCC) childcare program. Alongside the Director, this individual ensures a safe and educational environment for children while maintaining program mandates and standards. Hours for this position are 9am-5:30pm with a 30-minute lunch.
Duties
- Provide administrative support to the Childcare Program Director and manage the Center’s operations in their absence
- Serve as the designated site supervisor in the Childcare Center when the Childcare Program Director is not present
- Provide support to classroom staff by filling in during absences, lunch breaks, and any other reason ratios are not being met. Must be willing to assist with classroom coverage when needed.
- Develop and maintain a curriculum throughout each classroom
- Offer feedback and direction to teachers relating to classroom management and programming
- Ensure compliance with all FSA policies and OCFS and NYS licensing policies and requirements for childcare programs
- Assist maintain records for all children and staff
- Participate in training on appropriate practices, policies and procedures, accreditation standards, and licensing requirements
- Assist with scheduling of teachers and staff and maintain OCFS ratios
- Build relationships with parents/guardians and maintain an environment of open communication between staff and families
- Ensure physical conditions provide a safe and healthy environment by complying with state, federal, and local health and safety requirements
- All other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Childcare Program Director and FSA Board of Directors and Cayuga Community College leadership
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education OR Associate's degree with least 12 credits of Early Childhood Education OR Associate's Degree and New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential
- Teaching experience in a child daycare center or early childhood program
- Administrative experience
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Good interpersonal and written communication skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of national and state education standards and licensing requirements and procedures
- Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, email/phone communication, Microsoft office applications, and more
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions under pressure
- Must meet all state criteria for childcare employment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education
- Experience in curriculum development
- Administrative experience in a daycare/childhood facility
- Leadership and/or supervisory experience
- Budget management experience

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
