General Description :

The Carpenter is responsible for all installation and remodeling work on buildings and facilities tasked out to CCI. This includes but is not limited to : laying tile work, plumbing, drywall, painting, and remodeling structures.

CCI Industrial Services provides quality-driven, cost-effective construction, maintenance, industrial cleaning, power generation, and transportation services to support resource development companies in Alaska and the lower 48 states. Essential Duties & Job Functions :

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Comply with all guidelines, policies and procedures established by CCI while on shift, on call or attending training.
  • Complete and maintain excellence with plumbing, remodeling and restoration tasks.
  • Demonstrate professional skills and abilities equal to Certified Carpenter.
  • Initiate problem solving and complete timely carpentry work as assigned.
  • Communicate daily status of current projects to Site Supervisor to ensure all projects are completed and within CCI standards.
  • Maintain 100% "Safety Standards and Accountability" in all areas or mandatory / regulatory requirements, which include :
  • Compliance with required HSE training.
  • Taking necessary action when behaviors or conditions around you may be unsafe.
  • Reporting and addressing all potential safety concerns / incidents / issues promptly.
  • Facilitating or participating in CCI safety meetings, work safely and maintain a safe work environment as an employee and representative of CCI.
  • Willingly participate and assist in any investigation that may relate to a safety incident.
  • Document and record any injury or near miss incident that may occur while you are working.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings, training, exercises and drills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current driver's license.
  • Current SWLSC Safety Essentials card
  • 5 Years Work experience and background in carpentry.
  • Ability to work well with others in an environment that includes harsh weather conditions.
  • Ability to clearly speak, write, read and understand the English language.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely in a small shop environment.
  • Self-directed with minimal supervision.
  • Basic computer experience, including the ability to take online training, email general reports and use Microsoft Word.
  • Work Environment :

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
  • Position may be working with potentially hazardous materials and wastes.
  • Dress code is professional commensurate with site practices where applicable.
  • Hard-toe safety footwear is required at all times while working.
  • Physical Requirements :

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee's ability to perform to the job standard. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • MOBILITY : Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service. Must be able to push / pull 100 pounds for 20 feet. Shoveling up to 20 lbs. Frequent walking and standing. Occasional keyboard use, sitting, bending, twisting, and reaching.
  • HEARING : Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
  • VISUAL ACUITY : Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.
  • LIFTING : Must be able to routinely lift up to 70 pounds from floor to waist, 70 pounds from waist level to shoulder height and carry 50 pounds for 20 feet.
  • RANGE OF MOTION : An objective range of motion measurement will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire / post offer FCE.
