General Description:
The Tank Cleaner position is responsible for assisting with removal of various substances.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

- Ensure a safe work environment.
- Position includes heavy physical labor.
- Cleans interiors of large crude oil storage tanks, oil pipelines, and industrial processing tanks to remove crude oil, ballast water, emulsion and incrustations by performing the following duties:
- Uses large industrial liquid material pushing devices (squeegees) to move crude oil to areas where it can be extracted from the tank or pipe.
- Monitors external tank trucks. Connects hose to water or steam lines and sprays walls, roof, and bottom of tank to flush residue such as oil, grease, and sludge through tank openings.
- Scrapes and scrubs walls to remove incrustations, scales, or deposits.
- Squeegees crude oil and sludge into recovery areas, sumps, or to areas where the material can be removed.
- Removes chemical residues and other liquids from tank bottoms with squeegees or pump and suction hoses.
- Dries tanks with portable air-drying equipment.
- Tests gas content of tanks.
- Adds specified chemicals to industrial tanks to maintain and replenish tank processing solutions.
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work well with others in an environment that includes harsh weather conditions and remote locations.
- Ability to clearly speak, write, read and understand the English language.
- Interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work closely in a small shop.
Required Qualifications:
- Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) is required.
- A Valid Driver's License is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic Laborer Experience
Work Environment:

- The position is on-call 24 hours/day while on shift. Flexibility regarding hours of work is required as needed to meet the demands of the job. Position may be reassigned at any time to meet operational objectives.
- Position may be exposed to extremely hostile weather conditions at times while working outdoors.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works at the construction site. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
- Position may be working with potentially hazardous materials and waste.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles in a mechanical shop environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Hearing protection and the use of safety eyewear is required in most working situations.

A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee's ability to perform to the job standard. - MOBILITY: Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds for 20 feet. LIFTING:
- LIFTING Must be able to routinely lift up to 70 pounds from floor to waist, 50 pounds from wait level to shoulder height and carry 70 pounds for 20 feet.
- HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
- VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.
- RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurement will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire/post offer FCE.
