What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Maintenance Technician position at CCICareers?
PURPOSE
The Field Maintenance Technician role is responsible for completing maintenance services, predictive maintenance services, and providing comprehensive reports of findings. This includes installation of bearings, drive belts and sheaves, chains and sprockets, laser alignments, dynamic balancing, troubleshooting, and general industrial mechanical repairs on rotating equipment. It will also include installation and maintenance on conveyor systems and single and multipoint lubrication units. Vibration Analysis data will be collected as needed and there could be future vibration analysis training for the successful candidate.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Diagnose faulty bearings, worn belts, sheaves, couplings, and other components on rotating equipment
Safely and properly replace all components listed above in a timely manner using the proper tools/methods
Diagnose and repair highly critical plant equipment with exceptional accuracy and speed to reduce downtime
Accurately diagnose equipment problems and convey findings with confidence and practical solutions
Develop and maintain strong customer relationships founded on trust, respect, and reliability
Assist Field Vibration Analysts with collecting route data at multiple plants
Work overtime per customer requirements and be able to answer calls at any time of day or night
Service 24/7 customers and be ready to work whenever emergency breakdowns happen
Work alone or in a small team to complete jobs
Complete assigned tasks efficiently with little supervision
Assume management duties when necessary
Travel within 2 hours of Kansas City area is normal with some overnight stays
Perform other duties as assigned and directed
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
Must possess a customer first focus and attitude, and be able to work with individuals of all levels
Maintain a positive team oriented attitude while completing tasks with coworkers
Willingness to work fair share of on-call/overtime duties
Strong mechanical aptitude
Knowledge of mechanical equipment and good problem solving/diagnostic skills
Industrial maintenance skills including bearing installation, some rigging, removing and installing interference fit couplings and bearings
General installation techniques for various mechanical components
Shaft and sheave alignments
Must be highly motivated with strong work ethic
Ability to effectively and professionally prepare reports for customers after each project
Must comply with all OSHA and safety regulations and company standards
A valid driver’s license is required
Vehicle must be reliable and able to carry all needed tools and equipment to the jobsite
Must be able to sit, squat, stand, lift, and carry heavy equipment on a regular basis
Some hand tools will be required (a list will be provided)
Ability to travel and work at job sites outside the KC area with expense report requirements
Ability to work under pressure to meet critical deadlines
Strong Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google app skills are a plus
Forklift experience is a plus but not required
FUTURE/TRAINING CAPABILITIES
Dynamic Field Balancing - Single plane and two plane techniques
Use of vibration analysis equipment and SKF diagnostic software
Formal training on vibration analysis as time and schedule permits
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED WORK HOURS
This is a full-time position 40 hours per week based out of our Merriam, KS headquarters location. This position requires the willingness to travel extensively within 4 hours of the KC metro (sometimes with short notice) as required. The position also calls for being on call, work overtime as needed, some weekends and holidays as required. Majority of work will be Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Hours may occasionally vary based on production scheduling and business needs.
