What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Commissioning Technician position at CCL Global?
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Commissioning Technician with a minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in the commissioning of mechanical systems on heavy industrial, large capital projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for executing, documenting, and ensuring the safe and efficient commissioning of mechanical systems in alignment with project timelines, safety standards, and technical specifications.
Key Duties:
- Lead and execute mechanical commissioning activities including inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and start-up of mechanical equipment and systems.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with project-specific commissioning plans, drawings, P&IDs, equipment manuals, and safety procedures.
- Perform and document functional and performance testing on equipment such as pumps, compressors, fans, piping systems, heat exchangers, valves, and rotating equipment.
- Interface with engineering, construction, QA/QC, and operations teams to coordinate commissioning activities and resolve technical issues.
- Support the development and execution of pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures, checklists, and test documentation.
- Identify and report any equipment or system deficiencies and assist in the coordination of corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed commissioning records and turnover documentation for client handover.
- Contribute to system walkdowns, punch list management, and verification of mechanical completion and turnover milestones.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 7 years of mechanical commissioning experience on large-scale industrial projects (e.g., oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, mining, or manufacturing).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, machinery and rotating equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
- Familiarity with commissioning software/tools and completion management systems (e.g., WinPCS, Completions Cloud, Hexagon, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality.
- Trade certification or relevant technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or similar field preferred.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $50.00 - $65.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
