POSITION: Paramedic Lead
DEPARTMENT: Emergency Services
HOURS: Full-time/Non-Exempt
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will work full time in the EMS department, which requires on-call hours. Is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, training, and evaluation of patient care, protocols, and programs. Accountable for assuring safe delivery of emergency care within the scope of practice. Responsible for assisting the EMS Manager and HR in Paramedic, EMT and EMR recruiting, performance evaluation and disciplinary actions. Works alongside RN, EMT and provider in ER setting.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- Current National Registry Paramedic preferred
- Current MN Paramedic Certification
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification
- Current ACLS Certification
- Current PALS or NRP Certification
- Current valid, non-restricted Minnesota Driver’s License
- EVOC (or similar Emergency Vehicle Driving course) or be able to pass the curricula in one year
SKILL(S):
- Skill in oral and written communications, handling multiple tasks and prioritizing, and problem solving.
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities, provide professional development and mentoring to assigned personnel, quickly recognize and analyze irregular events, make independent decisions concerning the safety of EMS employees and to act decisively when necessary to ensure patient care, public safety and employee safety is not compromised, establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with agencies, city employees, and the public.
EXPERIENCE:
- Five (5) years of EMS work experience preferred.
- Instructor in above training certification courses preferred.
- Test examiner status for state/NREMT preferred.
- Certified Ambulance Documentation Specialist preferred.
