Mental Health Practitioner

Full-Time Mental Health Practitioner.

Provide professional, person-centered rehabilitative services to people with serious mental illness, helping enable the person to develop and enhance psychiatric stability, social competencies, personal and emotional adjustment, and independent living and community skills.

Additionally, the individual in this position must meet one of the following criteria:

1. Qualified by relevant course work by having:
   1. completed 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral sciences or related fields and:
      1. 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to adults with:
         1. Mental illness, substance use disorder; OR
         2. Traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities and completes training on mental illness, recovery from mental illness, mental health de-escalation techniques, co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse, and psychotropic medications and side effects.
      2. Is fluent in the non-English language or competent in the culture of the ethnic group to which at least 50 percent of the practitioner's clients belong, completes 40 hours of training in the delivery of services to adults with mental illness and receives, during the first 2,000 hours of work, weekly documented individual clinical supervision by a mental health professional.
      3. Has completed a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults served and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields.
         
         
2. Qualified by relevant work experience by having:
   1. completed 4,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to adults with:
      1. Mental illness, substance use disorder OR
      2. Traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities and completes training on mental illness, recovery from mental illness, mental health de-escalation techniques, co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse, and psychotropic medications and side effects.
         
         
   2. at least 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to adults with:
      1. Mental illness or substance use disorder and receives clinical supervision from a mental health professional at least once per week until the requirement of 4,000 hours of supervised experience is met; OR
      2. Traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities and completes training on mental illness, recovery from mental illness, mental health de-escalation techniques, co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse, and psychotropic medications and side effects; and receives clinical supervision at least once/week from a mental health professional until the requirement of 4,000 hours of supervised experience is met.
         
         
3. Qualified through a graduate student internship if the practitioner is a graduate student in behavioral sciences or related fields formally assigned to the center for clinical training by an accredited college or university.
   
   
4. Qualified by a bachelor's or master's degree if the practitioner:
   1. holds a master's or other graduate degree in behavioral sciences or related fields or
   2. holds a bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences or related fields and completes a practicum or internship that requires direct interactions with adults served and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields.

Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation and car insurance.

1. What are the hours?
   40 per week, Monday-Friday, between 8 A.M. and 5 P.M.
