Summary:
This position requires a person with a moderate background in A/V system integration and function. A thorough and proven knowledge of rack building techniques, AVIXA standards, and National Electric Code (NEC) requirements are essential. The individual in this role must possess the following: a high degree of organizational and communication skills, an eye for detail on project documentation, a good knowledge of ERP systems and the departmental process flows. This position also requires the following assembles and wires audiovisual equipment racks based on detailed system designs. They ensure clean cable management, proper labeling, and functionality for seamless hand off to quality assurance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assemble AV equipment racks based on engineering schematics, signal flow diagrams, and build standards.
- Perform precise cable terminations, routing, and labeling to meet company quality and industry best practices.
- Conduct preliminary power-up and testing of equipment to verify basic functionality prior to QA review.
- Identify and report design discrepancies, missing parts, or fabrication issues to engineering or project management.
- Extron GCP setup and test.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring racks are built efficiently and safely.
- Collaborate with QA and PM teams to ensure successful rack deployment and integration.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Self-starter
- Ability to read line drawings proficiently
- High level troubleshooting & problem-solving skills
- 5 rack builds (photo examples recommended)
- High level attention to detail
Preferred Certifications:
- CTS
- Crestron 101
- QSYS Level 1
- Extron control specialist
- Basic networking & PC knowledge (how to connect to a network switch & setting IP addresses)
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demand:
This position requires the ability to walk, stand, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, reach, grasp, lift, carry, push, pull and move equipment/boxes weighing up to 50lbs independently. Manual dexterity and working at heights may also be required.
Work Location:
This position requires travel to various job sites and customer locations using company vehicles. Work will predominantly be performed outdoor / indoors in the company vehicle, the warehouse, or at client sites, with occasional assignments at construction sites.
