POSITION SUMMARY:
Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Aide to support meal preparation and service for older adults. The Kitchen Aide will assist the Nutrition Manager in preparing and serving hot meals, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. This role follows all applicable Santa Clara County health regulations and adheres to the policies and standards of Catholic Charities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in food preparation and meal assembly according to standardized recipes and portion guidelines.
- Follow cooking schedules to ensure meals are ready on time.
- Serve food while adhering to Santa Clara County food handling regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen appliances, storage, and work areas.
- Follow Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food storage, preparation, and sanitation.
- Provide excellent customer service when assisting with meal service for older adults.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of a high school diploma preferred.
- Requires Food Safety Certificate, which can be obtained through Santa Clara County.
- Experience in food preparation, preferably in a large-scale kitchen or community setting.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to follow recipes, portion guidelines, and food safety regulations.
- Familiarity with kitchen appliances such as microwaves and steam tables.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish, Vietnamese, or Chinese is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to walk, stand or sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Criminal background check via Live-scan fingerprint.
- Must have TB test performed and submit results.
- Automobile, valid driver’s license and auto insurance per agency policy; or have access to reliable transportation.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Industrial Kitchen and Community Dining room settings.
- The position involves standing, bending, lifting, and working in various weather conditions when required.
HOURS AND OTHER CONDITIONS:
- Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- This is a part-time, non-exempt position, working 20 hours per week (4 hours per day).
- Ability to work occasional extended hours for program needs.
