COMPENSATION: $60,000-67,000 / year
LOCATION: Rochester, NY

ABOUT THE POSITION: Monroe County Office of Mental Health (MCOMH) has strong, ongoing collaboration with the eleven county law enforcement agencies. In September 2017, MCOMH launched the Forensic Intervention Team (FIT) which partners clinicians with law enforcement. Demand for this service remains high and the program is expanding to cover evening, overnight, and weekend hours. The Forensic Intervention Team (FIT) collaborates with clinicians and law enforcement agencies to coordinate responses with local law enforcement for behavioral and mental health related crisis and non-crisis situations, provide a de-escalation of events, and evaluate and refer individuals for continued treatment or community support. Current openings include evening (2pm-10pm or 3pm-11pm) shifts and part-time or per diem hours to cover weekends, holidays, and vacations.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Respond to crisis and non-crisis calls with law enforcement upon dispatch from 911.
When multiple calls occur simultaneously, triage calls to determine appropriate level of intervention, balancing needs among various law enforcement departments.
Balance immediate needs with long-term goal to connect to ongoing supports, understanding that needs and timeline for transition vary among cases.
Develop strong relationships with Monroe County’s law enforcement agencies.
Build effective linkages and relationships with informal and community supports (child, adult, and family serving systems), as well as other formal supports.
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with forensic entities (including courts and Monroe County Jail), as well as provider agencies.
Support interdepartmental initiatives and planning functions within Monroe County Office of Mental Health.
Provide program coverage, including on-call, as necessary.
Support other Monroe County Office of Mental Health program needs as they arise.
Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Psychoanalyst, or doctorate in psychology, as documented by valid licensure from NYS ED Office of Professions, or…
Master’s degree in Social Work or Mental Health/Human Services related field plus minimum 5 years’ experience in mental health crisis intervention or mental health crisis response setting, or…
Psychiatric Registered Nurse or RN in mental health environment, as documented by valid licensure from NYS ED Office of Professions
Preferred Experience: direct behavioral health support or treatment in emergency/crisis; criminal justice/forensic; substance use disorders; developmental disabilities; and/or youth/family settings
Additional Requirements:
Satisfactory completion of required background screenings: Monroe County Jail, Criminal, State Central Registry, Driving, Education and Licensure verification
Regular access to NYS registered, insured, and inspected vehicle for business purposes.
Minimum $300,000 personal liability on auto insurance policy.
Employee paid parking, FSA parking benefits are available
Willing to carry police radio for communication and response during shift and on-call.
