TheCertified Coding Specialistis assigned to work on behalf of CCSI’s customer and will support the medical billing of the Mental Hygiene Department with specific efforts towards the sustainability of the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). This position will serve as a resource and subject matter expert to the billing department regarding coding.CCSI is partnering withChautauqua County Department of Mental Hygieneto hireaCertified Coding Specialist.This position is employed by CCSI and working on behalf ofChautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene.In this role, you willComply with all legal requirements regarding coding procedures and practicesConduct audits and coding reviews to ensure all services meet regulation coding requirementsCollaborate with billing department to ensure all services meet regulation coding requirementsCommunicate with insurance companies about coding errors and disputesServe as resource and subject matter expert to billing departmentDetermine correct codes for client electronic health recordsReview services to ensure coding is accurateBe a coding resource (in-person, email, phone) to clinical staffMeet appropriate coding standards with the time frame established by management itselfProvide training on code selection and documentation for new & existing staffEstablish process to monitor coding for new services & staffCollaborate with billers on denials to determine relation to code selectionOther duties as assigned.RequirementsEducation and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED Equivalent and 3 years of total experience work experience or equivalent education and work experience (see CCSI's equivalency chart () )Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional CoderCommitment to high level of customer serviceFamiliarity with ICD-9, ICD-10, DSM 5, and SNOW MED codesMental / Behavioral Health coding background preferred but not requiredStrong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skillsAdditional RequirementsSatisfactory completion of all required background screenings.Respect the confidential nature of all CCSI and CCSI customer information you are exposed to in the course of your work performance.
