Description/Distinguishing Features
Performs a set routine of vehicle servicing, cleaning and custodial duties. Instructions are received from the the Maintenance Supervisor or Deputy Director of Fleet & Facilities. This is a third shift position. Previous applicants need not apply.
Examples of Duties
Fuels and parks buses; checks all fluid levels, including oil, transmission, radiator, power steering, and windshield washer solvent; washes bus exterior, thoroughly washes and cleans the interior, and removes all trash from the bus; checks by visual observation all lights, mirrors, wipers, tire wear, and tire pressure; cleans the service lane area; returns tools, equipment, and materials to the storage closet; documents defects on appropriate vehicle defect forms; probes fare box for revenue information and empties fare box vault into appropriate specified area for auditing.
Essential Qualifications
Some knowledge of bus cleaning methods, equipment, and supplies; skill in driving and parking buses; some knowledge of bus or heavy equipment maintenance; ability to follow simple written and oral directions; ability to lift 50 lbs on a routine basis and up to 75 lbs on an intermittent basis.
Acceptable Training and Experience
Skills in custodial or janitorial work, truck driving experience, and completion of an eighth grade school course, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the essential knowledge, skills and abilities.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
