This position can be based out of Dublin, Fresno or Visalia, CA. 

Job Summary

The Director of FP&A - Consumer Products Group provides the full scope of financial leadership and support to the divisional operations including financial analysis and planning, operational analysis, and systems support. The individual will work closely with the Finance and Business teams to set financial strategies and goals and determining the financial implications of new initiatives. This individual has a central role in monitoring and driving the business unit income and profitability. This person is the leader and initiator of cost savings and income building activities and is accountable for business performance. Through conduct and know-how, fosters respect for the Company among those people involved in the advancement of our business. This position will manage, train, and mentor the finance and business leaders to ensure corporate values and ethics are instilled and to develop the future leaders for the division and function.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop aggressive, but achievable profit objectives for the business unit and is strongly committed to achieve them via business unit decisions or support of business managers. Ensure completion of the plan and outlook processes and operates within them appropriately.
  • Lead business operation and financial analytics. Analyze business unit, business by product or channel, and recommend profit improvement for business building plans. Builds market profitability through in-depth understanding of manufacturing costs, logistics, marketing, sales, and other costs. To this end, works closely with the manufacturing team, the business managers, the logistics managers, and the other divisional leaders. Challenges and assists the business managers in order to maximize profitability for the business unit. Identify cost savings and understand financial implications of new initiatives and research/resolve variances. Recommend and execute with the Business Team profit improvement plans.
  • Lead and support business growth by coordinating the business needs within Financial systems. This may also include the development of financial systems and processing in branch, Corporate, and other offices.
  • Supervise the day-to-day financial services functions and controls. This includes the preparation of the monthly reports; reviewing of financial statements and corporate submissions. Supervising certain accounting close functions and process including but not limited to Trade, Marketing, and Accounts Payable/Receivable processes and controls.
  • Takes full responsibility for functional projects such as D365 integration, sku rationalization, etc. for the business unit (as assigned). Leads those projects (horizontal processes). Recommends policies and standard operating procedures to drive change while securing adequate level of control. Work with the finance organization, and General Management in the divisions to drive those projects for timely completion.
  • Support customer management both by reviewing financial viability of new and existing businesses. Carefully monitors in costs of distribution (typically done through distributors or through ship to locations). Demonstrate in-depth understanding of the operations as well as outside channel dynamics. Executes channel analysis and financial reviews for the business unit as needed. Challenges cost of selling, merchandising, and distributing brands, labels, and items.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent data analysis skills with a focus on problem solving.
  • In depth knowledge of budgeting and forecasting principles, including financial modeling.
  • Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, experience with Microsoft Dynamics and PowerBI a plus.
  • Effective oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, including Executive Leadership (ELT) and Board of Directors (BOD).
  • Perform tasks with a high level of confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Flexible and positive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to build relationships, manage conflicts, and embrace change.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervises the team of Financial Analysts.
Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in a finance environment, including public accounting.
  • 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, dairy industry experience a plus.
  • Strong grasp of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP).
  • Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to work independently.

  • Sitting/Standing/Walking: Each workday the office personnel spend about 75% of their time sitting at their desk while performing computer or manual accounting and other clerical duties.  They walk short distances to retrieve and replace files, to photocopy or fax documents, and to interact with other office personnel.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Each workday the office personnel rarely carry items weighing over 15 to 20 lbs.  Most items would be files or documents weighing less than 10 lbs., and most would be carried short distances.  They are directed to seed assistance for heavier items such as a full box of photocopy paper.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Each workday the office personnel may occasionally push or pull files, stacks of documents, or boxes of documents, which may be in files or on shelves at any height.  They are directed to seek assistance for anything heavy.
  • Bending/Stooping: Each workday the office personnel frequently squat or kneel to retrieve and replace files and documents in file drawers or on lower shelves.
  • Squatting/Kneeling/Crawling: May assume any combination of these positions during clean-up duties, including kneeling on the floor and crawling under equipment.  He/she may squat to use legs for leverage when using a large wrench to open product presses.
  • Twisting/Turning: Each workday the office personnel extensively twist, turn and move their head, neck, shoulders, arms and hands at various angles performing heavy computer input, and comparing information from their computer monitor with paper documents.  While standing or sitting at their workstation, they occasionally twist or turn to retrieve or replace something form an area beside their workstation.
  • Climbing/Balancing: Each workday the office personnel may need to walk up and down stairs several times throughout a day.  
  • Reaching: Each workday the office personnel may reach overhead to retrieve or replace files or documents on high shelves.
  • Grasping/Manipulating: Each work day the office personnel need full range of motion in both hands for heavy computer input and for using other office equipment including calculators, typewriter, and fax machines as well as for sorting through and organizing large stacks of documents.
