Job Summary
The Plant Manager Butter is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the Butter Processes. Support and enforce SQF / QA, GMP, Safety policies and procedures, and production needs. “Food Safety and Quality” are the responsibilities of this position.

Essential Functions
- Review daily inventories and assist Butter Superintendent in planning daily equipment run times.
- Direct daily Butter Supervisor duties.
- Attend daily staff meetings with Site Director to coordinate daily Butter Room activities.
- Review and approve employee daily work schedules and timecards.
- Review daily Butter Room efficiencies and reports.
- Review microbiology test results daily investigate high counts and report findings to Site Director.
- Review list of any out-of-spec. product with Butter Superintendent and Quality Assurance Manager.
- Check department throughout shift and employee GMP’s throughout shift.
- Review daily report of audits.
- Review CIP records daily and schedule CIP procedures
- Audit sampling techniques and sanitation practices.
- Provide training and evaluations as needed.
- Verify that all plant equipment is in good working condition and all preventative maintenance is being performed on a scheduled basis.
- Forward all work orders to Maintenance Manager for approval.
- Must have the ability to troubleshoot problems and be persistent until a solution is found.
- Must be willing to ask for assistance when the process is unclear.
- Follow and enforce all safety and working rules.
- Must have the ability to get along with co-workers, management personnel, customers, vendors, and employees in accordance with the company policies and working rules while ensuring a harmonious and conducive work environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position has management and employee supervisory responsibilities in the area of performance evaluations, On the Job Training Forms, Incident Reports, discipline and any other documentation.
- Responsible for supervising, training/developing, and coaching the Butter Supervisors
- Coordinate on the job training.
- Oversee adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Oversee scheduling of employees and temporary labor.
- Have the responsibility of reviewing time sheets and addressing overtime.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
- A BS degree in Dairy or Food Science; or an equivalent combination of education and experience are required.
- 5 years of previous management experience in food or dairy manufacturing.
Language Skills
English is required as the spoken language.

Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form. Must have the ability to discern when issues may require input from levels of authority within the corporation.

Pushing/Pulling: Some pushing or pulling could be involved when assisting operators.

Equipment
B.U.C. 3000 and B.U.E. 13,000 machines – along with butter pumps and associated equipment for testing butter, salt analyzer and CEM.
Work Environment

Employee will be subject to temperatures associated with an air-cooled room. Employee may be required to enter confined spaces to perform equipment inspections. Personal protective equipment including, but not limited to: hearing protection, bump caps, hair and beard nets, gloves, and safety glasses must be used in the performance of duties. Proper lifting techniques must be employed at all times.
