Job Summary

The Pricing Strategy Manager will play a critical role in building the Consumer Product Group’s (CPG) pricing capabilities. This role will serve as a strategic partner on all pricing related matters in the CPG to senior leadership and the Sales organization and will support the adoption of financial acumen and general manager mindset across the organization.

The primary focus of this role will be to support the Private Brands (Butter) and Valley Natural Beverages (VNB) businesses; additional support may also be required pricing for the rest of the portfolio depending upon the evolving business needs.

The Pricing Strategy Manager applies pricing strategy and financial planning expertise in driving the partnerships, strategic guidance, and support services that the business unit needs to operate efficiently and effectively while exceeding sales and volume goals. Essential Functions
  • Leads development of pricing and pricing strategies for Private Brands (Butter) and Valley Natural Beverages:
    • Price Development: Partners closely with sales teams in creating winning bids made to prospective customers factoring volume, revenue, profit and margin goals and considerations. Also owns customer pricing information in CDI ERP system (D365) and ensures it is accurate and up to date.
    • Price Strategy: Develops capabilities to accurately track the net price paid by our customers. Evaluates and evolves current cost-plus pricing model taking a more strategic approach.
  • Proactively identifies and executes net price and trade optimization opportunities in partnership with Sales, Category and Customer Management teams and other internal stakeholders.
  • Accurately measures the sales forecast impact due to price and trade using price and promotion elasticities, statistical, and heuristic approaches and supports TPM system updates to reflect forecast changes. 
  • Fosters effective working relationships with various internal stakeholders and supports enterprise initiatives as below:
    • Facilitating hedging strategies in partnership with the CDI Risk Management team to manage commodities cost volatility.
    • Supporting Finance initiatives to develop centralized reporting capabilities. 
    • Collaborating with TPM, BI and IT teams to ensure key systems and reporting reflect accurate and up to date price information.Works closely with VP/Sr. Director Sales Operations and Associate Director/Sr. Manager Revenue Growth Management in developing and executing the overall CDI’s net revenue management plan.
  • Executes other related duties and ad hoc reporting/analysis may be assigned as needed.  
  • Maintain professional relationships with coworkers, customers, and company. 
  • Required to travel up to 10% both locally and nationally. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 
    Education and/or Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration. 
    • 2-3 years of CPG experience with a leading manufacturer or consulting firm delivering and activating price and trade optimization insights.
    • 1-2 years of CPG Sales Finance experience preferred. 
    Qualifications
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (i.e. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
    • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, tables, etc. 
    • Expert knowledge of syndicated POS data and measures (Circana/NIQ).
    • Familiarity with Power BI and statistical programming languages (Python/R).
    • Familiarity with Trade Promotion Management software. 
    • Knowledge of strategic pricing frameworks, net revenue management approaches, and pricing and trade analytics typically implemented by modern CPG companies.
    • Strong financial acumen and ability to become a subject matter expert in pricing, customer profitability concepts, pre/post-event analytics P&L implications, and retailer specific sell in solutions. 
    • Ability to develop, lead, and translate strategy into action, create and utilize compelling narratives, motivate others, set objectives, and delegate responsibilities as required.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively and work toward a winning strategy within a team. 
    • Ability to navigate customer demands while delivering on company/function goals by creating feasible win-win solutions.
    • Ability to work with agility and pivot in a fast-moving environment.

    • Grasping/Manipulating: Grasping and manipulating of papers, objects, and equipment will be required. The ability to use calculator/10-key and keyboard for data input will be required on an ongoing basis.
    • Traveling: Potential for extended working hours and some domestic travel.
