Job Summary
The Value Engineer position’s primary responsibility is to implement projects by applying Value Engineering methodologies to increase the value of our product offerings and achieve essential functions with enhanced results while reducing the life-cycle cost. This includes aligning solutions and business outcomes to strategic imperatives, building business cases, and developing value roadmaps. The position will support our research and development team at our innovation center.
Essential Functions
- Drive profitability for current product offerings by applying Design to Value methodology for product, process or packaging of current portfolio of products.
- Develop tools and design concepts which reduce design/manufacturing/assembly time, increase quality, and optimize the use of packaging material and ingredients.
- Evaluate existing plant capabilities against new product needs detailing necessary scope, preliminary engineering, and capital cost estimate.
- Introduce new product solutions, and materials to operations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally as part of commercialization process for bringing new products to our facilities.
- Present and develop detailed business cases to obtain project approval and ensure proper change management is followed.
- Report project progress and capture business impact throughout the lifespan of the project using Business case stage gate process.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis as part of project evaluation.
- Support demand generation, pipeline growth, & enablement of teams across business functions.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or relevant field.
- 8-10 years of Value Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
- Product packaging knowledge.
- Working knowledge of Value Engineering Analysis, DFMEA, PFMEA and other tools.
- Strong group management and facilitation skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Experience in assembly equipment technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and apply technical education.
- Excellent presentation and public speaking skills.

- Sitting/Standing/Walking: Each workday the office personnel spend about 75% of their time sitting at their desk. They walk short distances to retrieve and replace files, to photocopy or fax documents, and to interact with other office personnel.
- Lifting/Carrying: Each workday the office personnel rarely carry items weighing over 15 to 20 lbs. Most items would be files or documents weighing less than 10 lbs., and most would be carried short distances.
- Pushing/Pulling: Each workday the office personnel may occasionally push or pull files, stacks of documents, or boxes of documents, which may be in files or on shelves at any height. They are directed to seek assistance for anything heavy.
- Bending/Stooping: Each workday the office personnel frequently squat or kneel to retrieve and replace files and documents in file drawers or on lower shelves.
- Twisting/Turning: Each workday the office personnel extensively twist, turn, and move their head, neck, shoulders, arms and hands at various angles performing heavy computer input, and comparing information from their computer monitor with paper documents. While standing or sitting at their workstation, they occasionally twist or turn to retrieve or replace something form an area beside their workstation.
- Climbing/Balancing: Office personnel may periodically need to walk up and down stairs.
- Reaching: Each workday the office personnel may reach overhead to retrieve or replace files or documents on high shelves.
- Grasping/Manipulating: Each workday the office personnel need full range of motion in both hands for heavy computer input and for using other office equipment.
