Position Description
The Superintendent is the key role to plan, organize, and prepare the site logistics. Schedule all subcontractors to assure the most efficient sequencing of activities. Provide for all field activities related to a project including on-site field administration, supervision and technical management of all construction operations, supervision of assistants, foremen, subcontractors and other construction-related personnel. Provide quality control by studying contract documents and questioning all uncertain details. Continuously walk the job and inspect each trade’s work and compare work-in-place to the contract documents. Continuously search for problems and resolve them before the work is executed. Verify implementation of all corrections for non-conformance and punch list items. Ensure final product meets or exceeds contract documents and the customer’s needs and requirements within the construction scope and budget.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Technical Skills
- Develop, maintain and enforce a project site logistics and temporary facilities plan
- Implement, maintain and enforce project site safety programs
- Coordinate and manage all material deliveries and onsite subcontractors
- Assist the Project Manager in the preparation of the scope of work for subcontractors and bid packages
- Provide input to the Project Manager on field activities impacting the Change Order process
- Develop schedules for the successful start-up and turnover of all systems to the client
- Implement SWPPP measures and documentation
- Assist Project Manager with the preparation of Project Daily Report’s
- Possess knowledge of all documents associated with the project including plans, specifications, daily correspondence, shop drawings and submittals
- Maintain a complete and accurate set of working documents and As-Builts
- Provide technical assistance to all members of the project team
- Coordinate all field inspections and testing
- Must be able to utilize a laptop and have knowledge of email and basic computer programs (Microsoft, etc)
Management Skills
- Effective written and verbal language communication skills
- Effective time management and organization skills
- First Aid/CPR certified
- Completion of OSHA Ten-Hour Safety Course Preferred
Travel
- Travel to various site locations is required.
