Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Concrete Worker to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for building forms, installing and tying rebar, and assisting in the overall concrete placement process. The role requires knowledge of safety regulations and the ability to work in a physically demanding environment. Compliance with OSHA safety standards is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
Formwork Construction:
- Measure, cut, and assemble wood or metal forms for concrete structures, ensuring correct dimensions and alignment.
- Install formwork for footings, walls, slabs, and other concrete structures, ensuring proper bracing and stability.
Rebar Installation and Tying:
- Read blueprints and drawings to determine the specific rebar layout.
- Cut and bend rebar to required lengths using manual or power tools.
- Place, position, and tie rebar according to engineering specifications, ensuring structural integrity.
- Secure reinforcing steel using wire, clips, or ties at intersections.
Concrete Placement and Finishing (as needed):
- Assist in pouring, leveling, and smoothing freshly poured concrete.
- Monitor curing times and apply finishing techniques to ensure a smooth and durable finish.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations and company-specific safety guidelines.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, gloves, goggles, and high-visibility vests.
- Participate in safety meetings and adhere to site-specific safety plans.
- Ensure proper fall protection when working at heights or near edges.
- Safeguard the worksite by erecting warning signs and using barricades where necessary.
- Use tools and equipment safely, such as saws, drills, and heavy machinery.
Worksite Maintenance:
- Clean work areas and remove debris after completion of tasks.
- Inspect tools, materials, and equipment for wear and report any defects or hazards.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a concrete worker, with specific skills in form building and rebar installation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project drawings.
- Familiarity with concrete mixing, pouring, and finishing techniques.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor and lift heavy materials.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; vocational training or certifications in construction are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in outdoor conditions.
- Ability to stand, kneel, and work for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
