Job Overview
The Import Coordinator will be responsible for reviewing and processing documentation required by US Customs and Border Protection for cargo entering the US via Air and Ocean. This will include communicating with overseas agents, airlines, and trucking companies for timely delivery of import cargo and meeting daily deadlines in time with accurate communication and documentation. Maintain a clean and organized work environment with a positive attitude.
Responsibilities
- Communicating with airlines, trucking companies and overseas agents via email and phone to ensure timely movement of cargo.
- Prepare required documentation for customs clearance, to include Bills of ladings, commercial invoices, packing lists, 3299s and other relevant documentation.
- Track shipments and update customers on shipment status daily.
- Enter shipping document data into company software accurately and timely.
- Utilize ABI software for bonded freight arrivals.
- Work closely with the accounting department to approve import service payments.
- Answer phone calls and direct to the appropriate individual.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements / Skills
- Excellent customer service.
- Willing to learn.
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook & Office 365)
- Must be able to type 50-60 words per minute.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail in repetitive work and maintain priority.
- Basic knowledge of Incoterms and Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
- Familiarity with Master air waybill and House air waybill.
- Strong team player willing to advance and grow in other roles.
- At least 2 years of experience required.
