Job Title: SQL Developer / Database Engineer
Kankakee, IL hybrid (onsite 3 days per week)
6 month contract with the plan to convert to FTE / Full Time Direct Hire Employment
We are seeking a talented and highly skilled SQL Developer with strong experience in database management, reporting, and working with data. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of SQL Server, be able to develop complex SQL queries, and be familiar with reporting tools such as PowerBI. Experience with ERP systems (and the data captured) is highly preferred. This role requires someone who is business-savvy, can work across departments, and has the ability to analyze and work with large datasets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain complex SQL queries and stored procedures in SQL Server.
- Create detailed reports and dashboards using PowerBI to provide business insights.
- Work with data from ERP systems to ensure data accuracy and relevance.
- Collaborate with various business departments to understand data needs and provide solutions.
- Analyze and transform raw data into useful and actionable business insights.
- Provide support for database-related issues and assist with some DBA tasks as needed.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
- Utilize light coding (VBA, Python) when necessary to automate processes or enhance reporting.
Qualifications:
- Strong in-depth knowledge of SQL Server, including T-SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization.
- Experience using PowerBI for report generation, dashboard creation, and data visualization.
- Solid understanding of ERP systems, especially DEACOM, is a plus.
- Ability to interpret and analyze various types of data, understanding what information is needed for business decision-making.
- Strong communication skills, able to collaborate with cross-functional teams and clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with light coding in VBA or Python is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with database performance tuning and optimization.
- Knowledge of data modeling concepts.
- Prior experience working with data from various departments (finance, operations, etc.).
