Position Summary

This position works under minimal supervision and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of assigned projects from commencement to completion. Accountable for developing and building strong teams for each project while delivering quality output, meeting customer expectations, managing to scope, delivering on time, and delivering within budget.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the recruit, hire, train, manage, supervise, promote, discipline and discharge, if necessary, all project related staff. Effectively manage all human resource issues (and escalate as needed) per Company policies and procedures.
  • Complete recommendations for project related employee's performance ratings, promotions and pay changes. Provide guidance and mentoring to meet all customer and Company goals and objectives.
  • Manage the workload distribution and monitor the customer delivery and job installation progress.
  • Plan for, manage, monitor, and maintain project profitability to achieve Company goals.
  • Manage all related quality and safety issues on customer work.
  • Act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s).
  • Responsible for effective communication with sales, the client and installation teams & management. Conduct regular team meetings.
  • Review and monitor operational processes for accuracy, completeness, and efficiency, including but not limited to estimating, purchasing, warehousing, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Develop, redesign, and implement process improvements as required to bring processes up to effective levels.
  • Work in concert with the Engineering Department, monitor all quality and safety issues related to the operations department. Actively promote safety as our first priority.
  • Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, and convey an appropriate professional image.
  • Promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners.
  • Possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).
  • Have excellent organizational skills and the ability to develop job processes and best practices.
  • Have high skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
  • Must be able to travel within the branch territory and / or regional territory as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department.

Qualifications

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Strong project management skills including documentation, cost control, procurement, scheduling, change order pricing, negotiating skills.
  • Superior communication and intrapersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and assist in winning projects. Field experience coordination with construction management.
  • Proficient in Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Extensive knowledge of project scheduling, bids, take-offs, change orders, and contracts.
  • Field experience effectively coordinating with construction management.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Exceptional analytical, motivational, and leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of safety procedures and a true believer in safety.
  • Current and valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Education and Experience

  • BSEE or Construction Management preferred, high school diploma required.
  • 5 years of extensive experience / knowledge of trade-specific contracting, constructing design, finance and management.

    This job may work inside or outside with possible exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures and weather elements in restricted or confined spaces, and on slippery or uneven surfaces. This job may have exposure to working on ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and other exposures typical of heavy construction. This job also operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing reaching, bending crawling, standing, or stretching.
  • The employee must be able to regularly lift and / or move up to 50 pounds
  • Move about on the feet regularly. Sit for extended periods of time.
  • Requires the ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • May require travel.
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
  • Talk and hear, ability to communicate with others both written and orally and by telephone.
  • Possess good vision, normal or corrected. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision to discern color coded wires, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Possesses good hearing, normal or corrected.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest), as needed.
  • Must be able to work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts, as needed. Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.
  • Must be able to work in the presence of customers and their representatives with little or no interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image.
