Position Summary
This position is responsible for assembling, installing, and repairing HVAC systems and installing these systems according to specifications and appropriate trade and building codes. These systems may consist of air handling equipment, control boxes, air conditioning ducts, grease ducts and hoods, ventilators, grills and louvers or other sheet metal products and equipment. This position requires Journeyman to mentor and coach sheet metal apprentices to work safely, install and produce quality product. Must be able to layout equipment from prints, make fitting in the field as needed. Must have own sheet metal tools. This position reports to a Foreman and performs other job-related duties as required.This is a safety sensitive position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Consults blueprints, work orders, schematics, or instructions; creates working procedure based on specifications.
Coordinates with manager to schedule machinery maintenance, repairs, and installation to minimize disruption to operations.
Complies with applicable safety and building codes, regulations, and best practices.
Maintains records, including safety logs and inspection details.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department.
Education and Experience
High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
Successful completion of a four-year apprenticeship that included classroom and on-the-job instruction in pipefitting or related field.
Valid state license.
4 years of sheet work experience in the mechanical industry
Required Skill, Knowledge, and Abilities
Must have a current Drivers License and reliable transportation.
Must meet attendance standards and comply with late/absence notification procedures.
Must be able to pass drug and background check.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong believer in Safety.
Demonstrate basic understanding of English (ability to read, speak and write) while performing work-related tasks.
Ability to read schematics and blueprints.
Ability to use a variety of tools, which may include blowtorches, saws, pipe benders, and welding torches.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Perform basic mathematical computations and use measuring tools.
Must have the ability to identify basic trade materials by size, shape and function and safely use small power tools and hand tools.

Complete full day assignments involving overhead work.
Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to access all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction, but acceptable for use.
Must be capable of securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks.
Possess good vision, normal or corrected. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision to discern color coded wires, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Possess good hearing, normal or corrected.
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest) at all times.
Must be able to work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts, as needed. This position requires flexible work hours. In order to get a project completed on time, this position is often required to work overtime, weekends, and night shifts.
Must be able to work in the presence of customers and their representatives with little or no interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image.
