General Duties:
Instructor needed for MAT 191 Precalculus. Hours: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays, approximately 6:00 – 7:15 PM (6/9/25 – 8/2/25)
This course prepares the student for the study of calculus, discrete mathematics, and other mathematics intensive disciplines through the study of algebraic, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions. Topics include functions, laws of logarithms, trigonometric and inverse trigonometric functions, trigonometric identities, solutions of trigonometric equations, and the Laws of Sines and Cosines. A problem-solving approach utilizes applications and a graphing calculator throughout the course.
This section will be taught on the main campus in North East, MD.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting classes in accordance with Cecil College approved syllabi and the stipulations of the department. The successful candidate will also be responsible for meeting every scheduled class, including the final examination, for the full number of scheduled minutes in the room assigned. Any changes in meeting place or time must be reported to the Office of Academic Programs prior to the class meeting.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Mathematics, or equivalent graduate credits. Successful college-level teaching experience strongly preferred.
- Only completed application including resume, letter of application and unofficial transcripts will receive consideration. Only applicants who are authorized to work in the United States will be eligible for hire.
- Prior teaching experience in college/university setting.
- Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills.
- Current knowledge and skill in the use of information and computer technology (e.g., word processing, e-mail, database) or proven ability to learn these skills.
- Able to work with students with special needs based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers
The Fiscal Year 2025 Credit Adjunct Scale is as follows: 2 semesters of less at Cecil ($820 a credit hour for individuals with less than a Masters 60 or $845 a credit hour for individuals Masters 60 or a Earned Doctorate); More than 2 semesters at Cecil ($845 a credit hour for individuals with less than a Masters 60 or $870 a credit hour for individuals Masters 60 or a Earned Doctorate)
