Founded in 1968 to meet the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents, Cecil College has been serving the community and shaping its future for more than 50 years. The College is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the governor. The College’s fifth president, Dr. Mary Way Bolt, reports directly to the Board of Trustees.

Cecil College is centrally located in Maryland’s most northeastern county, just one half mile from Interstate 95. It is easily accessible from Philadelphia and Baltimore, as well as from Wilmington, Delaware.

With a diverse student population, Cecil College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students. Cecil offers associate degrees, certificate programs and non-credit classes. Cecil offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs.

The Continuing Education and Workforce Development division at Cecil College is looking for a part-time instructor to teach classes on AI (artificial intelligence).

Summary Of Job Description

Cecil College is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable part-time Instructor to teach courses in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of AI principles, methodologies, and applications, along with excellent communication and teaching skills. This role involves developing and delivering engaging and informative instruction to students with varying levels of experience, fostering a positive learning environment, and contributing to the academic success of our students.

Responsibilities

  • Develop curriculum and ensure it is relevant, up-to-date, and aligned with industry best practices and the needs of adult learners.
  • Deliver engaging and interactive training sessions
  • Incorporate practical exercises, real-world case studies, and hands-on projects to enhance learning and skill development.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the rapidly evolving field of AI, incorporating new developments and trends into instruction.
  • Facilitate discussions, answer questions, and provide constructive feedback to learners.
  • Manage the classroom environment effectively to promote a positive and productive learning atmosphere.

Additional responsibilities include: Supervising and monitoring students' use of tools and equipment. Observing and evaluating students' work to determine progress, providing feedback, and making suggestions for improvement. Maintain attendance and administrative forms.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of core AI concepts and methodologies.
  • Relevant AI credentials or certifications
  • Proven experience in teaching or training, preferably with adult learners.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in using technology for instruction.
  • Teaching or training experience highly preferred

Schedule: Varied – evening and weekend; 3-6 hours a week.

Physical Requirements

Physical Demands: This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.

Work Environment

Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations and traffic signals when driving. 

The hourly rate for this position is $25-45/hr. dependent upon education and experience.
