Job Summary
The Camp Counselor reports directly to the Summer Camp Instructors and/or the Lifelong Learning Coordinator. The Camp Counselor is responsible for aiding in the supervision of all camp participants. Camp Counselors will be responsible for assisting the instructors in daily administration of the Summer Camp Program, including: ensuring the well-being and safety of all participants, administering games and activities, providing daily feedback to the Lifelong Learning Coordinator, filling out paperwork and maintaining daily logs, and maintaining a fun and safe environment for all participants. The Counselor is also charged with supervising the Counselors-in-Training.
Essential Job Functions
Ability to lift and move up to a maximum of 20 lbs. The physical activity of this position includes but is not limited to: climbing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pulling, lifting, grasping, twisting, and sitting.
Work Wenvironment
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations and traffic signals when driving.
This is a temporary position for summer 2025 based upon the summer dates identified by the Director at time of hire.

Essential Job Functions
- Lead campers through hands-on activities, labs, presentation, and experiments.
- Ensure that campers at all times are supervised and maintain a safe and enjoyable camp environment.
- Act as a leader for all Counselors-in-Training (CIT’s), providing them with instructions for daily activities.
- Aid Instructors in tracking each camper’s medical conditions as well as photo release restrictions.
- Keep track of supplies for camp and convey to the instructors and/or Lifelong Learning Coordinator, staff any needs the camp has.
- Perform head-counts of participants through the day.
- Ensure participants are safe (properly hydrated, playing areas are free of hazards, etc.).
- Follow all protocols found in the camp standard operating procedures.
- Interact with parents/guardians during drop-off and pick-up times.
- Assign duties for daily set-up and clean-up of the camp area.
- Carrying/keeping track of activity supplies throughout campus as well as off-site.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be at least 16 years or older. Must provide work permit
- Maintain current Adult and Child CPR/AED certifications (provided during training).
- Must be available to work Mondays-Fridays, 9am to 3:30pm.
- Must pass a criminal background check, including child protection service clearance.
- Public speaking, organization and ability to lead small groups.
- Camp Counselor is required to follow any and all other instructions/duties as requested by the instructor and/or Lifelong Learning Coordinator.
