Position: CLASS-Act Observer (Part-Time)
Location: Statewide across Louisiana, with an emphasis on high-need areas in the Greater Acadiana Region.
Organization: Cecil J. Picard Center for Child Development & Lifelong Learning, University of Louisiana at Lafayette
The Cecil J. Picard Center for Child Development & Lifelong Learning is currently seeking a part-time CLASS-Act Observer to support Louisiana’s statewide early childhood assessment initiatives. While the role spans the state, priority will be given to candidates located in or near Lafayette and adjacent parishes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (birth to pre-K), OR
- Bachelor’s degree in any field plus at least two years of professional experience working with children ages birth to five
- Familiarity with classroom observations and strong professional writing skills
- Willingness and ability to travel; must have reliable transportation
- Proficiency with computers and general technology
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current CLASS certification in Infant, Toddler, and/or Pre-K–3rd age groups
- Basic French fluency preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend all required training, calibration sessions, and ongoing professional development activities
- Conduct in-person CLASS observations, which include:
- Traveling to designated early childhood programs
- Completing two-hour classroom observations
- Preparing and submitting comprehensive notes and summary reports in accordance with Picard Center quality standards
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $310.00 per day
