As part of the CECO Environmental family of brands, Aarding Thermal is an industry-leading gas turbine exhaust system supplier for power and petrochemical plants. We develop, design, built and deliver equipment to major OEMs, EPC’s, and plant owners world-wide.
The major responsibilities of the position are listed below. To perform the job successfully, the individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties, assignments, and specific projects may be assigned at the discretion of executive management.
Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Research and review project specifications and design information to determine if it is sufficient to complete the design while ensuring that the design concept can be met.
- Assist with the preparation of standard engineering documents and calculations, using SolidEdge 2D and 3D for drafting purposes.
- Coordinate with other Project Managers and Engineers to establish essential functions and deadlines necessary to finish specific projects.
- Determine appropriate methods to create drawings using either a CAD template customized to the client’s requirements, a standard template designed for the specific type of work, or by updating an existing CAD file.
- Create and check structural calculations.
- Analyze reports, maps, drawings, tests, aerial photographs of terrain, existing and proposed characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design projects.
- Complete the drawing process using the information contained within the documents and in line with the Scope of Work; make necessary corrections to existing drawings following quality review process.
- Review drawings from other drafters to ensure alignment with scoping and corporate drafting standards.
- Assist project managers with preparation of scopes and estimates for proposals.
- Other job duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Pressure equipment and acoustic background
- 2-D and 3-D drawing design capability, using CAD software and structural calculation software
- Education: High School diploma required;
- Project team experience, required
- Skilled in SolidEdge software
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy required
- Experience: 5 years CAD experience
- Ability to travel up to 5% required
Preferred Qualifications:
- CAD certified or equivalent technical degree with technical work experience, preferred.
- Metals industry experience is a plus.
- Hand drawing / sketching capability is a plus.

- Concentrated mental and/or visual attention. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications, or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods.
- The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during normal performance of job. Visits to our manufacturing facility and suppliers’ facilities is required to monitor active projects and address design issues.
- Compliance with company attendance standards.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
