What are the responsibilities and job description for the Farm Kitchen Assistant position at Cedar Circle Farm and Education Center?
May–December, 20 hrs/week
Our farm kitchen creates a fantastic assortment of fresh, seasonal foods using organic fruits and vegetables grown on-site. We are seeking Kitchen Assistants to help prepare food for our farmstand, café, and meal programs during the peak growing season.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow recipes to prepare fresh, high-quality meals, cold salads, and lunch offerings for the farmstand and café.
- Wash, chop, and process seasonal fruits and vegetables for preserving, freezing, and meal production.
- Work with the kitchen team to contribute ideas for weekly and monthly menus for the Dinner Share program and farmstand offerings.
- Portion, package, and label prepared foods for retail and CSA meal programs.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and organized workstation while following food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Adhere to all established safety protocols and health inspection standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior kitchen or bakery experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while staying on task.
- Comfortable asking questions, receiving feedback, and adjusting to kitchen needs.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for the duration of a shift.
- Willingness to collaborate with the kitchen team and contribute to a positive work environment.
COMPENSATION
The Kitchen Assistant position is full-time or part-time and seasonal, with benefits including paid sick leave, fresh produce, and a 20% discount to our farmstand. Pay range is $15-17/hr, depending on experience. Ability to work the full season is a plus.
