What are the responsibilities and job description for the Unicorn Legal Assistant position at CEDAR GROVE LAW?
The Tea
CEDAR GROVE LAW is a law firm that serves farmers, land owners, agribusinesses in areas of business, land use, and estate planning (wills and trusts) law, and the disputes related to these areas. We understand that being professional and a little quirky are not mutually exclusive!
We’re looking for a unique (enter “unicorn” reference) assistant with a diverse, skill set to help our attorneys get stuff done. We want to hire someone interesting (what's you're story?) and a well-organized, task-master who brings passion to whatever they do. We are a non-traditional law firm setting looking to hire someone in a non-traditional role. We'd love to hire a “theater kid”-turned-adult, or someone who worked their way through college as a server, bartender, or valet. Someone who excelled at competitive sports would also be a good fit for this role. Recovering school teacher? Yep!
What you'll do:
- Master Outlook Mail and Calendar, Calendly and other software you might not have used before
- Handle basic social media, Canva, and MailChimp
- Manage a busy attorney’s schedule with a glorious blend of life that includes work, personal, and parental tasks (we live in 2025 and can, like, be all these things at once, right?)
- Enjoy running errands like shopping (online and IRL), dry cleaning pickup, mail and package handling, pet and kid toting, and more exciting adventures
- Communicate with people in a professional setting (email, in-person, phone calls)
- Manage highly confidential personal and professional matters
What you'll need:
- A few years of solid “life” experience
- Meticulous organization with an eye for efficiency (smarter-not-harder) and can manage their own schedule in a way that navigates office duties and errands
- Knowledge of professional and five-star-service etiquette, grammar, attire, etc.
- A “figure it out” attitude and can work with minimal oversight
- The highest degree of confidentiality and discretion
- NC Driver’s License with a clean driving record
- 7 years of daily driving experience
- Reliable, personal vehicle for regular errand-running
- Ability to regularly lift and carry 50lbs
- Lives within 20 radial miles of Hillsborough, NC
30 hours per week. Additional hours and/or growing this to a full-time, salary-with-benefits position is totally possible if desired and work is fire. All mileage will be reimbursed at $0.70 per mile.
