Work will include general building maintenance, daily ammonia system requirements, and repairing equipment for a refrigerated warehouse. Mechanical ability. Position will routinely use hand tools, power tools, and other equipment operation. This is indoor and outdoor and physical work involving kneeling, bending and stooping.
Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance necessary to building exterior/interior
- Assist and perform with installation, maintenance, repair and construction work in the basic building maintenance trades, such as carpentry, painting, electrical, and plumbing
- Assist with inspecting and maintaining (physically and visually), interior and exterior buildings, parking lots, and grounds
- Repair building fixtures and equipment
- Refurbish, repair and perform routine maintenance on rail cars
- Perform daily ammonia system requirements
- Maintain maintenance area in clean and orderly condition
- Occasional assistance with warehouse loading and unloading duties
Maintenance Technician Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Ability to use all tools required to repair
- Perform heavy, physical labor
- Operation of various hand and power tools
- Mechanically inclined
- High school diploma or GED
Working Conditions for a Maintenance Tech:
- Able to work outdoors in extreme all-weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet),
- Average warehouse temperature of 38-60 degrees F,
- Able to work in conditions that include dirt and dust
- Able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds with or without assistance
- Able to use hands to perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning and pulling
- Able to perform work on uneven surfaces
- Frequently climb ladders and on/off equipment, and work from various heights including making repairs on top of rail cars/buildings
- Able to work on and around heavy and moving machinery
- Bend, walk, stand and sit for extended periods of time
- Use hand tools
- Follow safety policies and procedures
