Cedar Haven Healthcare Center, a 324-bed skilled nursing facility, provides high-quality skilled nursing, short-term rehab, memory care, and hospice services in Lebanon. We are seeking a dedicated and caring full-time Therapeutic Recreation / Activities Aide to join the experienced team in our therapeutic recreation department at Cedar Haven!
The primary purpose of your job position is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Activity Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that an on‑going program of activities designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well‑being of each resident is maintained.
Director of Therapeutic Recreation Responsibilities :
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the activity programs of this facility.
- Assist in the development, administering, and coordinating of department policies and procedures.
- Keep abreast of current federal and state regulations, as well as professional standards, and make recommendations on changes in policies and procedures to the Administrator.
- Review department policies and procedures, at least annually, and participate in making recommended changes.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the identification of medically related activity needs of the resident.
- Participate in community planning related to the interests of the facility and the services and needs of the resident and family.
- Participate in discharge planning, development and implementation of activity care plans and resident assessments.
- Interview resident / families as necessary and in a private setting.
- Perform administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submitting such to the Administrator as required.
- Assist in arranging transportation to other facilities when necessary.
- Refer resident / families to appropriate social service personnel when the facility does not provide the services or needs of the resident.
- Provide information to resident / families as to Medicare / Medicaid, and other financial assistance programs available to the resident, as instructed.
Education
Must possess, as a minimum, a Bachelors Degree from an approved school of Social Work.
Experience
Must be a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional who is licensed by this state and is eligible for certification as a recreation specialist or as an activities professional; or
Must have, as a minimum, two (2) years experience in a social or recreation program within the last five (5) years, one (1) of which was full‑time in a patient activities program in a health care setting; or
Must be a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant; or
Must have completed a training course approved by this state.
Hours of Work
7 : 30am to 4pm or 8 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m. Monday to Friday, with a half hour unpaid lunch break and two 15-minute breaks as well as evening or weekend hours as needed for special events.
