What you’ll do:
Manage and ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and effectiveness of the accounting and business functions of all Cedar Lake corporations. This includes the accurate accounting of all financial reports adhering to prevailing government regulations and accounting standards and the timely reporting of the same. Conform to established policies, plans, and controls for the effective accounting and business practices of the corporations.
- Supervision and maintain all payroll and benefits functions as well as all financial functions related to the HUD programs.
- Maintain the general ledger, setting up new accounts, including preparation of monthly journal entries and account analysis and reconciliations.
- In conjunction with the VP of Finance and the VP of Human Resources, assist in the annual review of health and other employee benefit plans with careful consideration of both employee and Cedar Lake’s financial capabilities.
- Conduct monthly financial reviews with the Finance General Ledger team and with each Executive Director/Administrator.
- Consult with the VP of Finance and other Cedar Lake management as necessary in the areas of financial planning, policies, and procedures. Assist in reviewing & revising, as needed, internal control methods to protect the assets of the corporations.
- Assist private and governmental audit personnel in their audit and annual reporting.
- Assist the VP of Finance with the budget process including preparing analytical and forecasting reports.
- Assist the VP of Finance to manage the annual audit processes as well as the separate benefits audits (health, workers’ compensation and 401k).
- Work with and manage the Payroll/Benefits Specialists (2) to ensure accurate and timely completion of payroll, payroll related transactions, and the administration of benefits.
- Work with and manage the HUD Accounting Specialist to ensure accurate and timely filing of all HUD related documents and financial statements. Must also work with the Resident Funds Specialist and Administrative Assistant.
- Prepare documentation requested for the annual audits in relation to all HUD programs.
- Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of any software related to HUD (EIV and MRI as examples).
- Coordinate Management and Occupancy Reviews (MORs) for projects as they come due, compiling documentation from Finance and Maintenance, and ensuring all tenant files are up to date.
- Coordinate with the CLR Maintenance Team to ensure onsite walk throughs are performed as required to ensure compliance with all HUD property expectations. Provide additional support as needed.
- Maintain knowledge of certification requirements for all CLR HUD Projects.
- Serve as a Lead and provide support and back up to the General Ledger Accountants (2) to ensure financials produced are accurate and timely.
- Initiate and prepare analytical reviews and make recommendations for potential changes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What sets you apart:
- A degree in accounting and/or business management is preferred, direct relevant experience may substitute for education.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in accounting.
- Supervisor experience is required.
- Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting for non-profit organizations and Medicaid is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
What your typical schedule looks like:
Full-time, exempt/salary. Hybrid in-office and remote scheduling, 40 hours per week. Includes occasional additional hours and weekend hours as necessary.
