Job Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of the Fire Chief, Wildland Captain, Wildland Engine Boss and in compliance with Utah law, District Policies and Procedures and Standard Operating Guidelines, this position protects life and property by performing firefighting, rescue operations, emergency medical care, hazardous condition mitigation, public relations and fire prevention duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Ability to act effectively in emergency and stressful situations.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with the public, other agencies and Cedar Mountain Fire Protection District full time; part time employees; and volunteers.
- Must meet the Districts minimum physical agility and health requirements annually.
- Performs general maintenance work for the upkeep of the fire station facilities and grounds.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires valid Utah Driver’s License
- Required to have current EMT, AEMT or Paramedic certification.
- Required to have current Wildland certifications.
WORK HOURS:
- Shifts are generally 10 hours long, except while on deployments, when hours will vary, and may be up to 24 hours in a day.
- It is expected that this position will be ready to take Wildland deployments from May 15th, through October 31st each year. Dependent on the Wildland Fire Season.
- This position is an At-Will position and will be maintained by this employee based on their work ethic, professionalism, and productivity.
- This position will be in a probationary status for 1 year.
