ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Prepare, clean, and maintain exam rooms and treatment rooms.
- Shadow and learn new skills from Medical Assistants and Front Office staff.
- Teach and confirm the accuracy of vital sign measurements.
- Review HIPAA, OSHA, and COVID policies and testing.
- Treat patients with courtesy and compassion.
- Help facilitate patient flow and communicate changes with patients and clinical staff.
- Maintain courteous relationships with outside caregivers, insurance carriers, labs, hospitals, and pharmacies at all times.
- Assist MA with ordering medical supplies & stocking exam rooms with appropriate items
- Assist MA with Regular cleaning / maintenance of all medical equipment
- Assist with handling prescription refills, once appropriately trained
- Ability to assist in a variety of common office procedures
- Ability to take direction from MAs, Front Office staff and providers
- Ability to maintain records and record test results once trained
- Ability to use good reasoning and judgment and react calmly in emergency situations
- Exceptional communication skills, both in person and over the telephone, with the ability to interact with patients in a friendly, courteous manner.
- Patient and helpful demeanor to assist patients in feeling welcome, comfortable, and relaxed.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with patients, their families, and staff members.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and be HIPAA compliant
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry 20 pounds
- Ability to cover at other primary care locations a plus, not required
Education : High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience : Experience in physician’s office a plus but not required. We are willing to train and offer MA certification programs in house.
Mental and Physical Requirements : Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending and lifting. This position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Must be able to use a variety of office equipment. May require working under stressful conditions.
Conditions : Normal office and exam room environment. The position requires the ability to work under pressure and with a diverse population, including staff, physicians, clients, patients, insurance companies, labs, hospitals and other members of the public on a regular basis. The position may cause exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment.
