What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Therapist position at Cedar Recovery?
Overview
The lead therapist is expected to demonstrate expertise in: the ability to conduct group therapy, individual therapy, complete assessments, treatment planning and the utilization of SMART goals, and be able to manage a team of staff and group therapists. The lead therapist needs to be proficient in completing clinical documentation within a timely manner, supervising a team of therapists, and collaborating with the medical and administrative departments to provide best patient care. The focus of this position requires extensive knowledge in psychoeducation, crisis intervention, case management, substance abuse knowledge, appropriate referral sources, assessment completion, and treatment/discharge planning. This position will also perform other tasks related to the therapy needs of the office and the treatment needs of the patients.
This position requires an extensive knowledge of: Microsoft Office, Google Drive, zoom and an EMR system.
Responsibilities

- Treat patients better than they expect to be treated.
- Support the patient’s progress toward recovery goals, improved social determinants of health scores, and patient health outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of medical providers, therapy providers, and admin professionals to provide best-in-class care to our patients.
- Conduct group and individual sessions.
- Administer patient assessments as clinically indicated.
- Orient patients to the treatment program’s policies and procedures.
- Establish and build rapport with clients.
- Establish SMART goals with each patient and monitor progress.
- Conduct initial assessments and formulate individual plans of care. Includes activities related to managing and improving the care of the patient population across health, substance abuse and mental health treatment, and social service providers.
- Maintain licensure/certification and complete required CEU’s.
- Provide referrals outside of Cedar Recovery as clinically indicated.
- Supervise group therapist and staff therapist within the office.
- Report to the Compliance director and Director of OBOT services for supervision, guidance, and direction.
Qualifications
- A master’s level degree in counseling or related field.
- A licensed clinician preferred. (LPC-MHSP, LCSW)
- Minimum of two years of experience in a related field.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional treatment environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position (40 hours per week). Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The clinician must also be available to respond to questions from their clinical team, as needed.
Compensation: Competitive salary will be determined by experience and education.
