Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and proactive Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team at Cedar Ridge Urgent Care. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. As a Medical Assistant, you will assist healthcare providers, ensure smooth operations within the clinic, and help ensure that patients receive prompt, professional, and friendly service.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Greet patients and prepare them for examination by taking vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiratory rate), medical history, and documenting relevant information in the medical record.
- Assist with physical examinations and minor procedures as directed by the physician.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and injections under the supervision of the provider.
- Perform wound care, dressings, and assist with other basic clinical procedures.
- Support patients with education on health issues, treatments, and aftercare instructions
Clinical Support:
- Prepare exam rooms, ensuring they are stocked, clean, and ready for use.
- Assist with laboratory tests, including collecting and preparing specimens, running point-of-care tests, and processing lab results.
- Ensure proper handling of medical equipment and devices, ensuring they are functioning and cleaned after each use.
Administrative Support:
- Schedule patient appointments, verify insurance information, and maintain patient records.
- Handle patient inquiries and provide instructions related to medical procedures, treatments, and follow-up care.
- Manage patient flow, ensuring that all patients are seen in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and reorder as necessary.
Other Duties:
- Assist with medical billing and coding under supervision of the office staff.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to improving clinic operations.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or CCMA) preferred, but not required.
- Previous experience in a clinical or healthcare setting, preferably in urgent care or emergency medicine.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and basic clinical skills.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification required or obtained within a specified period.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-focused attitude.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Manual dexterity to operate medical instruments and equipment.
