Patient Advocate / Administrative Coordinator

Responsibilities:
The Patient Advocate and is available to both inpatients and outpatients to respond to any concerns, problems or grievances they may have regarding customer service, patient rights and belongings. The Patient Advocate is responsible for advocating for the patient, assuring there are no violations of patient rights, that the patient feels safe in the facility and that the patient feels he/she is receiving optimal and safe treatment. The Patient Advocate will follow-up with Nurse Mangers, Department Directors and any administrative personnel to assure resolution of the concern. All concerns will be placed in the Patient Advocate Log along with the follow-up letters sent to the patient when the concern is resolved. The Patient Advocate will complete monthly reports in a timely manner. Monitor scheduled and unscheduled visitations. The Patient Advocate will assist in collecting, inventorying, and distributing patient clothing as needed in a timely manner. The patient advocate must be able to think critically and communicate with a multi-disciplinary team. Must be able to meet established deadlines.

Cedar Ridge Behavioral Hospital provides inpatient and residential treatment services for ages 5-17. Our treatment programs provide a structured and supportive treatment environment that promotes self-acceptance and helps stabilize patients suffering from acute psychiatric illness. Our multidisciplinary treatment teams consist of psychiatrists, licensed therapists and highly specialized nurses who collaborate to develop and implement effective and compassionate treatment plans for our patients.

Cedar Ridge is a behavioral health facility that encompasses a 116-bed acute psychiatric hospital and residential treatment center on a beautifully wooded campus with a stocked pond, school, outdoor courtyard and playground.

Qualifications:
Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors in Social Services, Psychology, Education, Communication, or related field preferred
Experience:
  • Two (2) years work conducting patient advocacy investigations or related mental health experience preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of administrative/executive secretarial experience required, preferably in a health care setting.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Successfully complete a drug test
  • Successfully pass national background check
  • Investigative interviewing methods and techniques
  • Crisis intervention techniques
  • Federal, state and local ordinances and policies regarding abuse, neglect and related patient rights issues.
  • Understand the process of general office environment.
