QUALIFICATIONS/PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Support and foster the Christian uniqueness of the learning community.
Use Gospel values as the basis for decision-making.
Possess an ability to be flexible, adaptive, and cooperative.
High School or Technical School graduate is required.
One-year applicable maintenance work experience
Works well with others (all people regardless of their role in the system); ability to lead and delegate within the maintenance department.
Certification of good health signed by a licensed physician.
Demonstrates aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned responsibilities.
Displays patience and understanding.
Possess the organizational and technological skills required.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support and promote the philosophy of Catholic education and contribute to building a spirit of unity within the school and the Cedar Valley Catholic Schools System.
Comply with rules and objectives of the school, Cedar Valley Catholic Schools, and the Archdiocese of Dubuque.
Facilitate work request through a help desk ticket system
Operate and maintain the boilers and heating systems, air conditioning.
Plumbing repair, replacement of fixtures, etc. as needed.
Electrical repair, replacement of fixtures, etc. as needed.
Carpenter work, as needed – shelves, cabinets, etc.
General repair as seen needed including locks, door adjustment, thermostats, etc. as needed.
Handle light construction, remodeling, and repairs to any building damage.
Regular preventive maintenance on, including but not limited to, all heat pumps, air handling units, HVAC components, pumps, chillers and other building support devices being sure to keep complete records for future uses.
Set up for activities and special events in conjunction with the Activity Director and/or Building Administrator.
Perform preventive maintenance as needed.
Become the stand-in for the custodian due to emergency or general cleaning needs.
Yearly maintenance of outside faculties due to winterization.
Meet and provide feedback to & with outside contractors on an as needed basis.
Serve as a liaison between the school district and contractors during building projects, as needed.
Annually inspect the indoor and outdoor bleachers for loose bolts, broken supports, sharp corners and any other problems that affect the safe use of the equipment.
Removal of snow and ice from sidewalks, parking, and loading dock areas, as needed during the school day.
Maintain the parking lots.
Submit all required reports in a timely fashion.
Schedule annual inspections of fire pump and fire alarm system.
Maintain an inventory and recommend purchase of suitable supplies, tools, and equipment.
Maintain a calendar of regular lubrication, cleaning, maintenance of all equipment with moving parts.
Plan and do all maintenance and repair work, maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency.
Demonstrate organization and professionalism in fulfilling the responsibilities of the job.
Maintain a positive rapport with students, staff, parents and the community.
Dress appropriately for the position and work required.
Accept constructive criticism and suggestions and seek to improve each performance responsibility.
Maintain confidentiality in the school operation.
Adhere to applicable state and federal laws, rules and regulations, board policies and administrative rules.
Will be available for emergency calls 24 hours a day.
Daily custodial duties: cleaning of commons area, taking out trash, sweeping stairwells, recycling.
Other duties as assigned.
