Cedarbrook Senior Care & Rehab is seeking a Therapy Aide II (Activities/Life Enrichment) at Fountain Hill location.
Description
This is paraprofessional therapy work providing therapeutic services in the area of specialization, to patients of a County inpatient nursing facility. A position in this class, under the direct supervision of a certified and/or licensed therapist in the area of specialization, may provide therapy programs to patients, utilizing therapy, leisure education, and participatory activities. Work may include directing individual and/or group activities or programs. Work may involve supervising lower-level employees and volunteers. A position is this class is differentiated from related classes by the direct nature of the work performed, the specialization in a therapy field, and the employee's responsibility for assigned patients and/or functions. This position reports directly to a supervisory therapy position.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Days, evenings, and weekend/holiday rotation.
Acceptable Training And Experience
- Evenings & weekends may be required
- Part-time approx. 20 hours not benefit eligible- 1,000/hr. year position

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Basic knowledge of therapeutic goals and objectives, therapeutic principles, materials and equipment, in the area of specialization, used in a long-term care facility. Ability to learn the physical, mental, emotional and other factors affecting geriatric patients' needs, interests and capacities
- Ability to learn the indications or contraindications to treatment and precautionary or remedial measures, if required by work assignments.
- Skill in performing and demonstrating various manual arts and crafts such as needlework, ceramics and woodworking, if required by work assignment.
- Ability to assess individual patient needs and progress and report same.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and patients, including securing their active participation in activities.
- Ability to support and maneuver patients in transfers and ambulation.

Acceptable Training And Experience
- At least 2 years of substantiated experience working in a Long-term Care Activities or Therapeutic Recreation or Life Enrichment Department and/or a BS in Therapeutic Recreation. If multiple candidates have the same amount of required Activities/T.R./L.E. experience, then the candidate with more seniority at Cedarbrook will be chosen.
- Educational equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
- Possession of a valid PA Driver's License
