The Cardiovascular Intervention Center is a core element of the Smidt Heart Institute, performing more than 8,000 procedures a year. The department serves the populations of neonates to and including geriatrics. In this twelve-laboratory facility, we perform a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for coronary artery disease, heart muscle function and heart valve dysfunction.

As the Assistant Nurse Manager you will be responsible for coordinating the daily twenty-four (24) hour operations of the Cardiovascular Intervention Center Preop and PACU and assist with coordinating the Cath Lab Procedure area in the evening hours, in order to provide high quality, individualized patient care in support of Medical Center philosophies. You will function as the Department Supervisor and an experienced and proficient clinician, and assume responsibility and accountability for the expert application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care.

  • Identifies and removes barriers to patient flow in collaboration with organizational leaders and facilitates coordination of discharge planning and team rounding as applicable
  • Consistently demonstrates professional skills and abilities
  • Utilize your clinical competencies and exemplary leadership and educational skills to direct and supervise the clinical performance of others
  • Evaluates the interventions and outcomes of care situations
  • Demonstrates motivation and creativity, evaluates opportunities for care enhancement at the departmental level, and serves as a catalyst for effective change within Nursing at the department and institutional levels.
  • Share your integrated learning and knowledge, and assesses the educational needs of patients, family, and staff
  • Accountable for the achievement of departmental specific patient safety goals
  • Start time hours for this shift will begin at 11am

Qualifications : Education :

  • BSN required
  • Master's Degree in healthcare, nursing or health care administration preferred
  • License / Certification :

  • Current, unrestricted California RN License
  • ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Experience :

  • A minimum of five years of experience in an acute care setting, which includes two years in Cardiac Cath lab specialty required
  • Supervisory experience required
