The Financial Counselor – Hospital Admissions obtains eligibility and insurance verification of all Insurance information including primary and secondary insurance for scheduled and unscheduled patients for all levels of care. Gathers al insurance benefits information from insurance company and appropriately completes and enters all required screens in the Invasion. Monitors the fiscal status of the patient’s account and performs the job duties of financial screening and resolution of problems before, during and immediately following the patient’s visit to the facility for Inpatient, Outpatient and / or emergency services into computer database. Distributes appropriate information to appropriate departments based on policies and procedures. Request out-of-pocket expenses, deductibles, and co-pays are paid at time-of-service from patients. Ensures patient’s information is protected against HIPPA violations per Marina’s policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned or required in order to ensure the best possible situation for the patient, physician and / or other employees.
Shift : 8 : 30AM - 5 : 00PM including some weekends
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing (required).
- Additional languages (preferred).
- Excellent customer service skills (required).
- Basic computer knowledge (required)
- At least three (3) years of Hospital Admission and / or ER Registration (preferred).
- Strong collection skills (preferred).
- Medical Terminology (preferred).
- Knowledge of Passport, HDX and other online verification systems (preferred).
