Responsibilities;
- Develops and implements a stable, predictable system for joint surgery pre/peri/post-surgery and recovery management to ensure positive patient outcomes and support institutional and CME performance goals and metrics applying PDSA cycle.
- Develops and customizes the joint surgery program for each surgeon and their staff to provide the level of support needed to optimize and eliminate barriers to patient care
- Serves as an orthopaedic department nurse leader, supervising and providing nursing leadership and expert application of the nursing process in delivery to joint replacement patients.
- Works with Nurse Management to address issues identified regarding quality-of-care standards for joint surgery patients.
- Develops relationships with high-use home care agencies and skilled nursing facilities to ensure patients are met with the appropriate level of care and rehabilitation in a cost-efficient manner that reduces excessive length of stay and readmissions for complications.
- Coordinates and/or manages the assigned recognized organizational program and has authority for day-to-day program operations and administration.
- Collaborates with team members internally and externally, including leaders and agencies, to improve the program. Identifies and defines any logistics, action items, changes, or information needed to effectively manage the program.
- Researches and analyzes data for evaluating performance of program or program operations. Makes recommendations to leadership and/or implements program changes based on findings. Provides data and/or summary findings to program participants, collaborators, leadership, and/or cross-functional teams.
- Assesses training needs, develops applicable communication, education, training, on-boarding and/or mentorship. Provides ongoing communication to departments and leaders across the organization. Notifies team members of any changes to the program. May work with cross-functional teams across multiple departments to develop communication and training materials.
- Independently coordinates patient programs, projects and events with Nursing, medical center departments and communities across the health care continuum. Serves as a resource and consultant for educational programs throughout the Cedars-Sinai Health System.
- Maintains data system integrity. May provide ad hoc reporting to support recommendations observed through trend analysis for future planning and improvements.
Qualifications
Education;
- CA Registered Nurse
- BSN
Work Experience;
- 5 years Acute care inpatient setting
- 3 years Orthopaedic or PEDS experience in a large, academic trauma center highly preferred
