Summary/objective
A Petroleum Tanks Technician removes, installs, inspects and repairs for underground and above ground storage tanks of various sizes. The Tech will be tasked with completing projects such as UST and AST installs/removals/upgrades (from entire fueling facility to spill bucket replacements), soil remediation, confined space tank cleaning, piping install, etc. Projects are primarily located at Department of Defense installations in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic states.

- Establishes and maintains a safe work environment according to all applicable regulations.
- Follow standard industry procedures and manufactures recommendations.
- Manage a construction crew efficiently with clear and precise instructions.
- Clear communication.
- Attend training classes, both in person and online, to obtain required certifications.
- Learn and demonstrate proper use of tools and equipment specific to the job at hand.
- Diagnose and perform repairs on UST & AST systems by assisting Foreman while on site.
- Fill out project associated paperwork.
- Enter inspection data / associated paperwork into online web-based data collection systems using company laptop.
- Input timecards and work orders daily.
- When necessary, drive the company work truck to client job sites.
- Install/Remove/service above ground and underground petroleum tanks.
- Work with threaded steel pipe, flex piping and fiberglass piping
- Be familiar with industry material and equipment.
- Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on UST/AST systems and components at retail/ commercial fueling centers including: dispensers, pumps, controllers, POS consoles, printers, fuel management systems, leak detection equipment, lighting and electrical systems, valves, piping and more!
- Take daily directions from the Service Manager or Service Dispatcher on calls to be performed.
- Respond to after-hours emergency service requests for "site down" or other priority situations in an on-call rotation.
- Follow all customer protocols and procedures including customers safety and housekeeping guidelines.

- Climbing ladders; carrying/ using hand tools & parts; lifting sump lids with assistance.
- Ability to speak clearly & professionally to communicate with team & clients.

50% - 75% of the time, depending on your location.

Required education and experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience or certifications in one or more of the following: Gilbarco, Wayne dispenser, Gasboy fleet, Passport, Veeder Root, Verifone, Ruby, etc.
- 5-7 years’ hands on experience working in the field on tank projects.
- Experience working with petroleum storage tank (USTs & ASTs) compliance programs.
- Experience working with general handheld tools (pipe wrenches, pipe threader, voltmeter, etc.)
- Experience with DOD sites and regulations.
- Experience as a contractor installing or removing tanks.
- Experience conducting environmental sampling related to regulatory compliance.
- Experience with report writing and document preparation.
Preferred education and experience
- Certifications and credentials (installer, removals, API, P.G., P.E., UST/AST Certification)
Work authorization/security clearance requirements
- You must be able to pass security clearance requirements to work at a DOD facility.
