The Cedarville University Centennial Library seeks a qualified candidate to serve as a Humanities Librarian. This position is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty position within the University’s Centennial Library reporting to the Director of Library Public Services.
The Humanities Librarian will contribute to the development and delivery of library instruction services, research and information services, and individual research assistance, with special focus on undergraduate humanities majors and faculty.
Position Description:
The Humanities Librarian provides innovative and responsive research support to students and faculty in undergraduate humanities majors and collaborates with faculty to deliver an effective information literacy instruction strategy in the School of Arts and Humanities.
Additionally, the Humanities Librarian shares responsibility for development and delivery of Research Center services and participates in the development and delivery of departmental service at a professional level, ensuring effective implementation of innovative library technology, online tools, and digital services for various audiences.
This position is subject to the University's verification of credentials along with other information required by law and Cedarville University policies, including the successful completion of a background check. Position Requirements:
ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library Science, or a degree in a humanities discipline, is required (both preferred)
Minimum of 3 years reference and instructional experience, or related experience, in an academic or public library is preferred
Experience with online learning environments
Experience delivering effective presentations or classroom instruction to groups
Strong organizational, written/oral communication, and interpersonal skills
Strong service orientation
Excellent classroom teaching skills
Knowledge and experience in the use of research strategies and teaching methodologies
Familiarity with humanities research tools, research methods, and information resources
Familiarity with digital library resources and web-based library applications
Strong focus on collaborative teamwork and demonstrated success working with teams
Must be able to speak to a group of students or faculty for an entire class period
Ability to work collaboratively with others
Ability to lift moderately heavy boxes and materials
Ability to review/evaluate materials visually and aurally
